All trustees undergo an induction prior to joining the board to establish a well-placed, informed and effective team. Meetings are held regularly and include a trustee self-assessment process.

Accountability and transparency

With direct connections at in-country grass root level we are able to acknowledge the full end-to-end process for both transparency and accountability. Parcels are tracked using tracking software provided by our distribution partners; we know what happens from the very start of our campaigns to our pre-loved shoes reaching their final destination; into the hands and on the feet of children most in need via our established and vetted partnerships. In this way, every portion of funding is accounted for, whether used internally or externally.

This accountability is reflected internally and with our external partners by pre-evaluating potential partnerships, completing due diligence, and ensuring their core values reflect that of our own. We need to be assured that the organisations we work with have the necessary safeguarding policies in place to protect the children we support and have their wellbeing prioritised as well as the aims of Our Shoes.

We also ensure all operational plans and funding usage are in line with the Our Shoes initiative, strategic goals and resources, and that this performance is regularly monitored.
